I can't believe there's no thread for these guys yet!
Vanity Beach
"We don't give a fuck! Trends come and go... we just do what we wanna do" state the band. Finland's hottest new band Vanity Beach have just independently released their new EP entitled 'VENGEANCE'. The band were earlier in the year tipped off as one of the years' hottest new bands (alongside bands such as Aiden and Bring Me The Horizon) by Metal Hammer UK among other magazines and the search for the right label has started. "Imagine Pantera jamming with Duran Duran... that's what the new material sounds like" says frontman J. Crushing guitars, hard hitting beats layered with catchy vocal hooks and epic synth melodies. "We listen to everything from fuckin' Journey to Mortician… I guess this is what happens" proclaims bassist Bones.
Hailing from the hometown of Max Payne, Espoo, the band consisting of childhood friends J (vocals), Bones (bass) Marty Vain (lead guitar), Juno Forth (synthesizers) and newly recruited drummer MT was formed in early 2002 after the demise of Juno's and J's former band Cum.
A reputation of being a killer live act has been established by playing everything from small club shows to major venues, from opening up for bands like Swedish pop act; Shout Out Louds to playing Scandinavia's biggest metal festival, the Tuska Festival. "Anything can happen at a VB show, anything..." explains Juno. Energy-filled, explosive live shows à la early Nine Inch Nails may come as a surprise to many, from a band that looks like the bastard offspring of Visage and Sex Pistols. Responding to this, the guys simply quote Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe; "Just cuz we wear lipstick, doesn't mean we can't kick your ass!". A website created by Pixelghetto Studios (Type O Negative, Slipknot, Orgy) was launched back in 2002, and is now receiving thousands of weekly hits.
The critically acclaimed debut CD; 'Nights Of The New' was released independently by the band back in April, 2003 and the sales exceeded all expectations. The first printing of the CD sold out only within a couple of weeks of it's release! 'Nights Of The New' featured such fan favorites as 'Fight Through The Night', 'Girls On TV' and a collaboration with Canada's The Birthday Massacre; 'The Knight Murders'. An extended version of the album was released in Australia on October 17th, 2005 through Electricult Records/MGM.
In 2005 the band started working on new material for their next album 'Vengeance'. A music video for the song 'Take Me To Tokyo' was filmed at Europa Studios in Stockholm, Sweden with Alex Frejrud and can be seen at the official Vanity Beach website (www.vanity-beach.com). A single was released during the fall 2005 and earned the band features in high-profile magazines such as Metal Hammer and Kerrang!.
At the time of the release of the new EP, a new video was shot for the latest single 'BATCAVE'. The video was directed by up and coming director extraordinaire Jaakko Itäaho (of Mack Dawg Productions snowboard flicks fame) and featured a cameo by Finnish cult icon, avantgarde/underground artist M.A. Numminen. The video was featured and the EP was streamed in its entirety on MySpace (MySpace Exclusive Listening Party / a feat normally only achieved by bands on major labels). Recent sold-out shows in northern Europe, the Baltic states and the Russian Federation proved that the buzz is definitely on and great things are to come. Plans for 2007 include releasing the long-awaited, highly anticipated new album and a lot of touring. "2007 is gonna be our year, I just know it" concludes Juno.
