ABOUT
biography off of band's website www.crumbland.com
2001
This is the year Crumbland saw the light of day. A few demos where made, and one was sent off to a band competition arranged by Radio Extreme. The song was called “The Earth”, and we won. The song got some decent airplay and we got to make an EP, also called “The Earth”. It contained four songs, two of which we re-recorded for our first full-length album six years later. Antti joined the band.
2002
With the help of producer Douglas Pashley we recorded another four-track demo.
One of the tracks we recorded, "Slide" immediately climbed to #1 as the most played song on the nationally respected Radiomafia (nowadays YleX). It also got rotated on some other radio stations, which generated some interest amongst record companies.
2003
Things started coming together for us as a band, and despite some members being replaced by others, the ball had already begun rolling.
We came very close to signing a record deal with a major company, but we couldn’t reach an agreement and the deal fell through.
Drummer Pexi joined the band.
2004
We released our first official radio single, "Feel you". The single was released by publisher Warner / Chappell Music. Thanks to the success of “Feel You” we again started getting some attention from various record companies.
2005
Guitarist Teemu joined the band, completing the Crumbland lineup and bringing the much-needed vocal harmonies to the live sound.
A label called “Terra Recordings”, (a branch of Exogenic Music Group, http://www.exogenic.com), signed the band.
We started recording our first full-length album “Should I tell you?”
2006
The idea had from the start been to try different producers, hoping this would help us find our sound. As it turned out it made the process very slow, and it took us a year and a half to finish the album. For most of that time we were just waiting for the next producer. The album features three producers: Niklas Nylund, Mikko Raita and Janne Riionheimo.
In August we embarked on a two-week tour in India, playing five gigs in three cities. It was an adventure more than anything. We didn’t really expect anything to come out of the trip, but we didn’t hesitate for a second when we were asked to come back the next year.
2007
So in February we packed our bags again, this time to headline two shows on the Hero Honda Campus Rock Idol tour (LINK). There we meat our biggest crowds so far; 5000 people in Delhi and 7000 people at the finals in Pune.
In January the album was finally finished. It had taken much longer than expected to get this far, but after all the sweat and tears we now have a debut album we are all very proud of. ”Should I Tell You?” hits the stores on June 13th.
“In Your Head” was the first single release, and of course it needed a video. One-man video team Onni Tappola came to the rescue and directed, lit, shot and edited the first Crumbland video ever. Thank you Onni.
